The Vision for Las Olas Marina
The new Las Olas Marina is expected to redefine Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront, with completion set for spring 2024. The development is designed to support the expanded Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and offers a variety of amenities, including luxury yacht slips, exclusive dining, boutique shopping, and lush landscapes.
Key Features and Amenities
The marina will offer 7,000 linear feet of dockage, accommodating both large yachts and smaller boats. Central to the project is a three-story, 31,000-square-foot marine service building with a casual restaurant, ship store, office space, gym, swimming pool, and outdoor patio. Additionally, a two-story, 15,000-square-foot upscale waterfront restaurant will provide a premium dining experience with outdoor seating.
Economic Impact and Job Creation
Beyond its aesthetic and recreational appeal, the Las Olas Marina project has significant economic implications. It is projected to generate over 650 jobs during construction and 1,110 full-time equivalent jobs once completed. The estimated annual economic impact is $221 million, contributing $6 million in state and local tax revenue and $446,000 in annual real estate property tax revenue.
Construction Progress and Current Status
By September 2023, the project had made substantial progress. The construction team had topped out all principal buildings, completed most marine work, and replaced over 1,000 linear feet of seawall. Additionally, they completed the new pump station serving most of the barrier island. The current focus is installing 7,000 linear feet of new docks, with ongoing tenant and restaurant selection.
A New Signature Destination
